Thank you to Tk for mentioning my GoFundMe me ❤️. Basically my husband mother had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest which caused her to stop breathing. She was without oxygen for over 30 minutes due to EMTs waiting on NYCHA elevator to come and she lived on the 13th floor. They did not provide CPR right away nor did they have the right equipment which forced them to have more of a delay because they had to wait on paramedics to come help the EMTs. Due to lack of oxygen for a substantial amount of time she was diagnosed with Anoxic Brain Injury & is currently in a persistent vegetative state. She never regained consciousness since her cardiac episode on March 11,2025. She is currently married to my husband father but they were estranged for 20 years ( he lived in another state with another woman and multiple outside children and history or Dv towards her and the 8 children they shared all legally documented) She would have not wanted him to make any medical decisions (stated in a video 2 weeks prior to this incident when she was in Virginia Hospital ICU due to having a heart attack and required a stint to be put in) for her nor appoint anyone to make those decisions for her. My husband was able to file a emergency injunction on March 17 2025 to have a restraining order to prevent his father from making medical decisions for his mother and against NYC Health & Hospitals to stop the hospital from removing his mother from the ventilator and give his siblings time to make a decision regarding their mother care. The Stay was granted on his behalf for both but his father put two of his siblings who had strained relationships with his mother but was cool with him over her care as surrogates and his mother would have not wanted that. So he is in the process of going for POA as well Gurdianship but we are a low income family who is currently having housing issues ourselves (currently in a family shelter) so money is very low (I work & my husband was I injured on the job so he’s currently on worker’s compensation) & this is a case that can run anywhere from $4500-20000(prices I was quoted). There is no legal aide to help with this and lawyers who do offer pro-bono services so not offer them for these types of cases. His next court date is 9/11/2025 and there is decisions that need to be made and having a lawyer by then will really work in his favor (he is going up against Millions Dollar hospital lawyers and he has no legal knowledge and the little I know from being in school currently has come to an end).
