TANEYA I understand your point, and I respect that you feel strongly about it. I also think we may simply disagree on what the Bible itself represents versus how people have used it throughout history. I’m aware that Scripture has been misused to justify oppression, and I don’t dismiss that history. But I don’t believe the misuse of Scripture automatically makes Scripture itself corrupt.I study the Bible for myself, and the more I read it, the more I’m drawn toward God , not away from Him. So while I respect your conclusion, I haven’t reached the same one. We can agree to disagree without questioning whether the other person has studied, researched, or thought seriously about their beliefs.

mark B. Yikes! 😬 I choose the bible, it wasn’t rammed down my throat. I am no fool, the bible teaches me to live in reality and to enjoy my life because it is a blessing and because I do, my offspring is blessed. What is foolish, is for a parent to raise their children to be dependent on the values of this world. As I said, my walk with God doesn’t look like the walk that was explained nor did it for those who raised me. So the hate you carry, I don’t carry in my heart, but I see how you and others get there and respectfully your opinion doesn’t move my faith.

TANEYA Sis, I hear what you’re saying, and I don’t dismiss the history behind what you’re saying at all! I absolutely agree with you that the Bible and Christianity have been misused as weapons to control, harm, and oppress Black people, and I have empathy for those whose experience with Christianity has been rooted in that kind of pain. But I can only speak from my experience. I study my Bible every week outside of church because I genuinely want to understand God’s character for myself. The Scriptures were never taught to me as a way to make me weak, submissive to oppression, or afraid. I was taught that there is strength in following God, and that when I remain in the will of my Father, I can trust Him with the outcome of my life. And I have personally watched that truth play out over and over again. Praise Jesus! And yes, I do know who King James was. My father taught me about him, his history, and the history surrounding the Bible. But knowing that history doesn’t change who I believe God is. One thing Scripture has also taught me is that God has repeatedly used unlikely and deeply flawed people to accomplish His will. My faith isn’t in King James. My faith is in Jesus Christ. So I’m not disagreeing with you about how the Bible has been used to oppress people. My point was simply that that was not how Scripture was taught to me, nor is that how I understand or practice my faith today. I can acknowledge someone else’s painful experience without pretending that it has been my experience too.

The Bible isn’t the issue, it’s the teachers. Those same scriptures were not taught to me as being weak it was about strength. I never seen Christianity taught as a way to suppress but to give peace.

All the winos at once !

😳I had to skip this man talking…. I don’t like it when people yell at others, gives me chills. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t innocent. This is a matter for Jesus and the courts.
