My opinion alone. Black people is always expected to be the better and bigger person. Ignoring racist people does not mean you are bigger, better, or have more "control".

I think it was to protect the daughter, but the father. I think grandmother knew right from wrong, but was stuck in a marriage or relationship with an abusive man.

AND she can't base the adults situations and turmoil on rather or not if the son sees his father or not. She shouldn't encourage him to see shim, but she shouldnt discourage and prevent either. She NEVER said he's hurt that child, so even the court will not allow it.
