“EMANCIPATION”
Slaves weren't free just because Abraham Lincoln said so. They were forced to enlist or work farms and that's IF they rebelled against their slaveowners who did not believe in freedom or they waited for the army to “rescue” them.
“Whipped Peter” is a mere symbol of ONE mans pain and endurance during slavery. There are MILLIONS more. Dead and STILL alive. Stories that need to be shared. Slavery cannot die. The stories of violence and grief need to be shared so they can be remembered. We must NEVER GO BACK. We must burn this country down before they even put one soul back on them fields to pick cotton.
