I well over a year into my therapy. I made it a goal to work on my mental health. I didn't realize how much of trauma that I had buried. My main issue was my Family history. When I said and revealing and actually speaking out loud, it gave me revelations and help me to see who I am and why I took some of the paths I chose. If I can offer anything to help anyone, Start your sessions alone. They are going establish where to start. They will give you the option to invite them to your sessions . Tell them that you aren't ready but maybe in the future I may consider it. Naan one of them hasn't gotten that invite yet. And, they were ones telling me that I need to get some help. So, I told them I have, and that need therapy as well. No of them has gone as of yet. So, it has given me the tools to work and help me to a healthier mind state. Last thing, I am a Lpn. I graduated nusing school in 1992. Check state board licensee registry. I'm on a new path so it's has been a process. Don't get started until you fully commit to it. Have a plan astart listing your goals set for you and only you by priority. Be specific and definitely make realistic one. Getting ready to get my tools to learn Self- love. But, I had to work hard as he'll to get myself to get in position to be able to dedicated. And for real your family will be the main ones that will be an obstacle. The next ones in line is your " significant others. Heads be prepared that you may have set limits with them. You may have to cut off communication. You may to fully remove yourself away from them .This includes actually move to a different location. Don't tell anyone about anything that you are doing until you get your tools. Listen with an opinion mind . Listen with a purpose and at anytime if you feel as though you aren't getting what you need from that Therapy don't. feel bad to tell them that you would like to request a new one. They won't or shouldn't take it personal. They should verbally offer you that option. Because my first one kept falling asleep.I went in on that 3rd visit when I started, andI had already said that was going to be the last time I will allow her fall asleep and keep apologizing. I waited for her to wake up, she fell asleep during her apology, but when that session was over, but I didn't have to say anything else because told me that day that I would be getting a new therapist. She was only supposed to due my initial assessment and intake. But she was being overworked. She was also on the emergency response team. So, she was on 24 hour call. So, I appreciate her. And my last thing, the have so many other programs that you be surprised about. When they offer an Healthcare Coordinator say yes to every thing she offer you. Don't say you don't need it. Use a resource she offer. Finally, if you really cannot make any appointments, these are the words you need to use. Don't ever say that you would like to cancel your appointment. Always say you would like to reschedule it. If possible speak your own personal therapist. Get her personal/ direct line number. If you know you may be late, call them and make them aware of the situation. Sometimes they may give you a fifteen minute windows. Sometimes may tell you that have to reschedule your appointment. It time based appointments. I take 2 forty-five minute sessions/ per month. Byyyyyyee.
