The problem is using that CHOICE as an excuse to degrade all Black women or all Black men. That is not “preference.” That is contempt dressed up as personal choice.

Then when something goes awry, these same people expect and/or receive support from the very people they DENIGRATE! Why not just MAKE YOUR HOLY GRAIL CHOICE and Don't Look back!

Why do we keep using “dark” as a synonym for evil, cruel, wicked, or depressing especially as Black people who already know what colorism has done? I know people may not mean harm, but language matters. If “dark” always means bad and “light” always means good, that symbolism eventually lands on darker-skinned people whether we admit it or not.

Say what you actually mean: corrupt, wicked, harmful, abusive, predatory, dishonest, or cruel. Darkness itself is not evil. Darkness can also mean depth, rest, protection, mystery, womb, soil, and wisdom.

Brother Bilal, I am sorry for what you have endured and are still enduring. Until your book and legal matters bring the financial relief you are seeking, please consider employment in areas that are consistently in need of workers, such as home health care and special education support. Home health care agencies often need caregivers, companions, and support staff. Special education programs also need instructional assistants, paraprofessionals, and aides to work in classrooms, adult programs, and group-home environments.

No one should have to serve as a fixer for people whose actions are rooted in corruption, exploitation, and cruelty. Being around that kind of toxicity can damage a person who is trying to keep a conscience. It can exhaust the spirit, isolate the mind, and make someone question themselves.

May that toxic chapter close, and may your next chapter bring stability, healing, and justice.🙏🏾

There are always part-time jobs available in the areas of Home Health care as a caregiver and in special education as an instructional assistance/para professional.

Umar Johnson repeats way too often. It is very annoying! It could be a few possibilities. As an education specialist I witnessed these speech patterns in those who had an IEP in school.

In some individuals, especially those with conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD repetition can show up as:

echolalia (repeating phrases)

processing time (they repeat while organizing thoughts)

comfort through predictability

There are clinical conditions where repetition is more pronounced.These include things like:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder → repeating to relieve internal tension

Tourette Syndrome → vocal repetitions or tics

certain neurological conditions or brain injuries

In those cases, repetition is more compulsive and uncontrollable, not just a habit.
