Hey Winos!!! A little over a year ago Tasha posted a clip on Instagram of me calling in during one of the first Happy Hours when I mentioned that gossip is in the Bible. Needless to say, we got dragged but I knew we were onto something so I decided to look into where the word “gossip” comes from. As it turns out, gossip is derived from the idea of god-siblings. Over time it evolved to encompass women’s knowledge of childbirth. Later, because of misogyny, gossip began to take on negative connotations about the “idle chatter” of women. That’s pretty messed up, huh?
