Yes. “Law” and “court” are connected, but they are not the same thing ⚖️

Law = the rules.

These are the written rules and regulations made by governments. Examples:

traffic laws

criminal laws

contract laws

Court = the place/system that interprets and applies the law.

Courts decide:

whether someone broke a law

what evidence matters

what punishment or outcome happens

Example:

The law says stealing is illegal.

The court hears the case and decides if the person actually committed theft.

So:

Law = rules

Court = institution that enforces/interprets those rules
