PW It is common for women whom family carry breast cancer trait to get a single and/or double mastectomy as a preventative measure. As Dr. Contessa stated, it was in the BEST interest of her health to follow through with the procedure in order to ensure that she can continue to raise her young children. I would do the same if I was faced with the situation.
